- What is Greek Life?

Greek Life means a lot of things to different people. The main reasons for being a part of a Greek organization is to grow as a person, have fun, and meet people, in most cases people you wouldn't normally have met. Joining ODPhi means you are a part of something that spans far beyond your college years. Once you're a brother, you're always a brother.

- What is a Brother?

A term used by fraternity members to refer to one another.

- What is the Prospective Member process?

If you decide that ODPhi Sigma Chapter is something you'd like to be a part of, you go through the process of joining known as the Prospective Member process, which lasts between 5 - 8 weeks. Within the process, prospective members learn the ways of the brotherhood, its history, and traditions.

- What is a Big Brother?

Upon entering the process, every prospective member is assigned a Big Brother, an established member of the fraternity. Your Big Brother mentors you through the process and acts as the bridge between a prospective member and the Brotherhood as a whole.

- What is a Family Tree?

A network of Big Brothers and Little Brothers.

- What is a Line?

A Line is a term referring to members of a Greek organization that are doing or have completed the Prospective Member Process in the same semester.

​

- What is a Class?

Following the Greek alphabet, your class is the Greek letter following the previous semesters. Example: Alpha Class – Spring 1998, Beta Class – Fall 1998, Gamma Class – Spring 1999 and so on.

- What is a Line Brother?

A Line Brother is a Brother, who is doing the process or has done the process the same year and semester.

- What is the Initiation?

It's a ceremony taken place at the start of Prospective Member Process.​

​

- What is the activation?

It's a ceremony taken place at the end of Prospective Member Process, when the prospective member is declared a brother of the fraternity.

​

- What does it mean to have crossed?

It's the semester and year a prospective member became a Brother.

​

- What is an Active?

A Brother of the fraternity, who is in good standing with the chapter, national organization, and university.

​

- What is considered an Alumni?

It's graduated members of a Greek organization.

​

- What is stepping?

A performance involving dance, marching and the traditional culture of an organization, which may vary with each organization.

​

- What is a stroll?

A dance routine done by members of a Greek organizations.
